The Roswell Woman’s Club 2010 Showcase Home Tour will continue through March 28. This annual charity event features the recreation of beautiful Stoneleigh Manor and Gardens, a 25-year old manor home.

A variety of activities and events surround the Showcase Home Tour. Fashion Fridays will feature new spring fashions and a lovely ladies accessories. On Friday, March 19 and Friday, March 26, Bloomingdale’s will present a show featuring the latest fashions from their spring collections. The shows will be held at noon in Stoneleigh Manor with commentary by Kay Evan’s of Significant Style. In addition to the fashions from Bloomingdale’s, Significant Style will have a complete line of ladies accessories available.

The Roswell Woman’s Club 14th Annual Showcase Home is well underway and we are pleased to have a variety of specialty businesses participate in the home tour.

The French Mannequin, a line of womens designer clothing, will be showcased in the Master Bedroom closet at Stoneleigh Manor and Gardens. After touring the Master Sitting Room and the Master Bedroom, you will enter the Master Bath area. The Master Closet is a large comfortable space that provides a perfect backdrop for the specialty designer clothing. The designer clothing adds a special touch to the elegant Master Suite. The French Mannequin will have their clothing on display during the showcase tour. Stop by and view the lovely fashions.

Pike Nurseries will be participating in Green Thumb Saturday’s. On Saturday, March 13, from noon – 1:00pm, Pike’s will be presenting “Grow Your Own Vegetables” and on Saturday, March 20 they will continue with their lecture series with another specialty topic. Friday, March 12, visitors will be treated to several great events as they tour the beautifully renovated 25-year old home at Stoneleigh Manor and Gardens. Belk’s is sponsoring a fashion show from noon – 1:00pm. New and fresh spring fashions will be featured as members of the Roswell Woman’s Club model the fashions. Kay Evans of Significant Style will be on hand with a complete line of ladies accessories. Her collection will accessorize the fabulous fashions in this fun-filled event.

Another highlight of the day includes Rex Weston, stylist to the Hollywood movie stars. From 1:30pm – 3:00 pm, Rex Weston will be demonstrating the right colors and styles for your individual look. With audience participation, Rex’s presentation will be the highlight of your day. Learn what is right for you and what you should avoid in your wardrobe!

Jump start your weekend with Fashion Fridays from 11am – 1pm. On March 5th our fashion and accessory expert will be on hand giving savvy fashion advice. On March 12, fashions from Belk’s will be featured in a fun-packed show with models from the Roswell Woman’s Club. Fashions from Bloomingdale’s will be featured on March 19 and 26. Come see these new spring outfits modeled by Roswell Woman’s Club! At each of the fashion shows, Kay Evans of Significant Style will be on hand with trendy fashion accessories.

What great fun you will have at Green Thumb Saturdays. On March 6, 13, and 20 from 11am – 12pm, Pike Family Nurseries will have great gardening tips. Ed Castro Landscape will conduct a presentation on March 27 from 3pm – 4pm about the specialty gardens at Stoneleigh Manor.

Musical Sundays will be enhanced with musicians from local high schools. Drop by between 2pm – 5pm for performances by our own local high school talent.

Since 1978 Roswell Woman’s Club has contributed approximately this amount in the form of scholarships for high school seniors and grant requests from educational non-profits in North Fulton County. Scholarships honor academic achievement and community service but also provide the principle means for many students as well as adults re-entering the educational process to afford higher education.
In addition, RWC supports public and private school educators in our area with their innovative and exceptional ideas for the classroom.

Among those innovative projects came the request from the Child Development Association, a longtime Roswell non-profit providing affordable day care and early learning programs for low income pre-schoolers, to assist the teaching staff in order to improve early childhood educational skills. RWC funded 10 teachers from CDA, in a 120 hour certification process required by the State of Georgia. Another non-profit receiving RWC assistance was the Fulton County Board of Education Foundation. RWC funded hundreds of public school teachers with great ideas for the classroom. The Teen Parenting and Day Care Program at Independence High School received vital contributions from RWC which allowed this program to remain in place.

Proceeds from the annual RWC Showcase Home Tour provide the means for our educational outreach. Whether it is sending students to college, university or vocational school or providing a 5 Senses Skunk Trunk for the Chattahoochee Nature Center, the Roswell woman’s Club is highly dedicated to improving the educational environment in North Fulton.

The gracious and elegant Bulloch Hall was built in Roswell, Georgia in 1839 by Major James Stephens Bulloch, one of Roswell’s first settlers and grandson of Governor Archibald Bulloch, and his wife Martha Stewart Elliott Bulloch, daughter of General Daniel Stewart.

The dining room of Bulloch Hall was the setting on December 22, 1853 of the wedding of their youngest daughter, Mittie Bulloch, to Theodore Roosevelt (Sr.). The new Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt were entertained at homes in Roswell for several days after the wedding. The couple lived in New York City where they raised their family of four children Anna, Corinne, Theodore, and Elliott.

Son Theodore became the twenty-sixth President of the United States. In October1905.

This impressive Greek Revival structure, a Willis Ball design, has been described as one of the most significant houses in Georgia, and one of the South’s few examples of true temple-form architecture. The floor plan, typical to the period features a lofty center entrance hall with an equal number of rooms on each side.

The house is beautifully furnished with authentic period furniture. The house includes a Museum Room with history of the family. The grounds include reconstructed slave quarters, privy, summer house, wells, gardens, and museum shop.
